High School Leadership Program

This unique program empowers high school students of diverse backgrounds and interests to unite as a group with a mutual understanding that all are equal. Together the participants create an alliance that provides a safe, setting which allows each to participate without fear of judgment. Within the safety of a mutually created alliance, students are encouraged to participate fully and authentically. By providing this unique opportunity of introspection, students gain awareness of the power of compassion in all relationships.

The kick-off to the program is an all day low ropes course, where team building is the focus. This group of 7- 8 students then meets weekly for 12 weeks under the direction of life coach, Kate Sholonski, for in-school group coaching. Each week an experiential activity is carried out, followed by a group coaching/debrief. All are encouraged to have fun and be themselves in the process.

The underlying belief of this program is that when each student fully appreciates themselves, their tolerance and kindness for others will increase. They become more aware and intentional regarding their impact on others. Their renewed sense of self also enables them to positively deflect negative comments that they may encounter in general.

This program serves as a leadership model as all are encouraged to interact with others with integrity, kindness and authenticity. The intended outcome is for each student to be a confident, compassionate and productive member of their school, family and community.
